Here is a bunch of pictures of tough Northmen and their viking ships — drakars. With their drakars or long boats, the vikings traveled the seas. On their exploration trips and plunder raids they travelled to England, France and the Mediterranean. They even sailed to Iceland and Greenland. Eventually, they were the first Europeans to cross the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to North America.

Fun fact: Viking warriors are often depicted wearing a helmet with cow horns. There is no historical evidence for this. Actually, they wore these kinds of helmets.
